When we are younger we are asked at fairly regular intervals what we want to be when we grow up. Inevitably our answers change as we grow and our interests change. At the youngest age our response is something like princess or knight but as we grow our answers become more sensible, we say things like fireman, pilot, or astronaut.
And then by the time we are preparing to leave school we are answering that question with doctor, architects, lawyer, and teacher. Somewhere in this bunch of answers someone might say dentist.
It will probably be a small number of children who give this answer considering how children feel about dentists, but there might be some who dream of dentist jobs. Dentists seem to have a bad reputation with children but really the services and skills that they have to offer are important and invaluable.
Much like doctors and lawyers, the benefits of a dentist are never considered until you need a dentist. Becoming a dentist is a wonderful pursuit and using those skills not only for the well off but for the less fortunate is a real way of giving back.
Dentist jobs are sought after and to be a good dentist is something that requires excellent skills and knowledge, but also a friendly manner. Perhaps dentistry will become a more popular field.
